History was made again on Friday, November 25, 2022 when His Excellency, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, the President of the Ugwumba Leadership Center announced the adoption and award of a university scholarship to one Master Celestine Terdue Asuntu from Benue State, who he found selling pure water on the streets of Abuja.
Hear him, “I was excited when I saw a young man, wearing tie and selling pure water on the streets of Abuja. First, it reminded me of those days in Aba, when I used to sell ice water and oranges. I became emotional on seeing the young man and I had to stop to ask him how I could change his life. During my interaction with him, I found out that he is an orphan and would like to become a lawyer if given the opportunity to go to school.”
Therefore, the Board and Management of the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa, hereby officially announce this adoption and scholarship award made by our President to Master Celestine Asuntu, who hails from Logo Local Government Area of Benue State. As he prepares for the next University Matriculation Exams, the Center has also approved his appointment as a support staff with effect from December 01, 2022.
You may wish to recall our special interventions that changed the lives of several other youths across the country, including one Mary Daniel, the lady who used to sell pure water in Oshodi whose leg was amputated; Mr. Ibikunle Hammed Olasunkanmi, a physically challenged young man in Oyo State who needed support to start a shoe-mending shop; Mr. Chibuzo Uchendu in Imo State, who has one of his legs also amputated but was working as a mason in construction sites; and others.
As an organization with a mandate to raise a new generation of leaders for Africa, we shall continue to empower young people across the country, no matter their religious, ethnic or political affiliations.
To God be the glory!
