Yesterday in Abuja, history was made as the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa entered into a partnership with Do Take Action to begin training of grassroots development champions in Africa.
As an organization that inspires and provides all the intellectual and digital resources young changemakers need to execute community projects, Do Take Action will collaborate with the Ugwumba Leadership Center to empower its growing community of youths and women in Africa as changemakers and development champions in their various communities.
Addressing the audience, our President, His Excellency, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu announced that through this partnership, millions of young people shall be empowered through training and mentorship. He expressed fears that the major problem in our society today is the lack of mentorship that should prepare the youths for the future.
Earlier in her presentation, the CEO of Do Take Action, Precious Ebere informed that a “Grassroots Development Champion” (GDC) is an individual, group, or NGO registered with DO Take Action which has the passion and is willing to devote their time, skills and resources to promote sustainable development in their communities. She used the opportunity to commend the Center for its work with youths and women across the continent.
In his introductory speech, our Executive Director, Remy Chukwunyere informed that the Center’s mandate is to raise a new generation of leaders and entrepreneurs for Africa and said that the GDC model of Do Take Action fits into the overall objectives of the Center.
The meeting ended with the signing of a 3-year Memorandum of Understanding for both organizations to reach and empower youths and women in Africa.
To God be the glory!
