One of the highlights of the just concluded 2021 Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge was the book presentation and review by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Gordy Uche.
The story of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu as narrated by Remy Chukwunyere in the book titled: “UGWUMBA: OUR PRIDE… the story of a good man!” was described by the reviewer, Chief Gordy Uche (SAN) as a story of survival, determination, resilience, sacrifice and passion.
Ugwumba Uche Nwosu never had it rosy growing up, yet through resilience and hard work, he was able to push through. He didn’t allow his background put his back on the ground. He never saw the challenges and struggles of rising from nothing as a sentence to a dead end. He embraced the process and made it a ladder unto the greatness we now celebrate today.
Even though, he had the sacrificial support of his mother, now late, he was himself a determined young man, who took advantage of every little push he got from his mother and other benefactors he met later in life.
From his story, we see that the days of humble beginnings are days of learning, investment and to leverage on. They are not days to loose focus and get distracted or throw a pity party like others would do.
Today, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu is encouraging young ones who find themselves in the kind of circumstances he once found himself to brace up. In his words as captured in the book, he said “I encourage youths in Nigeria to be proud of every lawful venture they get involved in, irrespective of how demeaning they may seem to those who are watching.” For him, it is better to climb the ladder of success from bottom to top, one step at a time than to go through short cuts.
The reviewer recommends the book to all as a tool for inspiration. He hopes that anyone who reads the book will be inspired by the story of the great man being told and take charge of their destines in life…
