Something big is coming…

Oh yeah, something actually big is coming for members of the Ugwumba Women Academy and Ugwumba Enterprise Academy (aka Ugwumba Fellows) who are building tech startups across the country.

Yesterday, our Executive Director, Remy Chukwunyere paid a working visit to the Innov8 Tech Hub, Abuja, which houses the Innovation Fellowship for Aspiring Inventors and Researchers (i-FAIR), an initiative of the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria and the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria for the purposes of raising a generation of innovators, inventors and researchers in Nigeria.

The visit yesterday is not unconnected with the overall mandate of the Ugwumba Leadership Center, which is to raise a new generation of leaders and entrepreneurs for Africa through training and financial support.

While addressing Dr. Obichi Obiajunwa, the Head of Programs at Innov8 Tech Hub, Mr. Remy Chukwunyere said both centers have similar visions for the continent and expressed need for collaborations to maximize each other’s core competencies in reducing the scary unemployment gaps in Nigeria.

Mr. Remy said, “our Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge is an accelerator program that brings together entrepreneurs and innovators, who compete for our startup grants after being equipped with enterprise development skills. With the amazing technologies and innovations that are birthed at the InnoV8 Hub, I strongly believe that collaborating with the hub will enable us raise more innovators from across the country and the African continent in general.”

In his response, Dr. Obichi Obiajunwa thanked the team from the Ugwumba Leadership Center for the visit and commended the center for the impacts it is making every year with their various development programs, especially the idea pitching competition called, Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge.

Earlier, our Executive Director, Remy Chukwunyere and the team were showed round the various incubation labs in the hub.
