The Board and Management of the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa hereby wish the entire people of Africa, a happy Africa’s Day celebration!
On 25 May 1963, Africa made history with the establishment of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), which is today known as the African Union (AU). Therefore, the Africa Day is observed annually to celebrate and acknowledge the successes of the AU in the fight against colonialism and apartheid, as well as the progress that Africa has made while reflecting upon the common challenges that the continent faces in a global environment.
As an impact investment and leadership center with a mandate to raise a new generation of young leaders and women entrepreneurs for Africa, we celebrate African leaders across the continent for their vision and passion to drive a better future for all of us.
In 2019, we launched the Rebrand Nigeria Campaign, a project that is designed to showcase the beauty and the good about Nigeria and by extension, the African continent to the world.
Therefore, theme of this year’s Africa Day: “Arts, Culture And Heritage: Levers for Building the Africa We Want” coincides with one of the major objectives of our Rebrand Nigeria Campaign and we shall continue to showcase our rich cultural heritage to the world.
The time for the world to know that our continent is blessed with highly intelligent and innovative young people, beautiful women, abundant human and natural resources; and cultural heritage is now!
We are not all criminals and fraudsters as foreign media has continued to paint us. We know our problems and soon, they shall become history.
Africa is beautiful!
Congratulations to you, all!!
