Ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon and welcome to a brand new week of higher levels! Once again, we appreciate your loyalty for joining us on this show every Wednesday all through Year 2020. So far, many lessons have been learnt and may lives changed with the highly educative, informative and inspiring conversations we have had on the show since inception.
Going forward, we promise to do more this year, 2021 as we have already scheduled wonderful people from around the world to appear on the show. Our first guest this year shall be the Founder and CEO of Miss Ebony Beauty Pageant in the UK, Irene Eribo, who is a typical example of a young lady in Diaspora who rose from grass to grace using her vocational skills.
For us, we chose her to make this first appearance for several reasons. The foremost being that she is from the Edo State, one of the States with the highest rates of illegal trafficking and prostitution abroad. Despite the challenges faced by other young ladies in the UK, Irene was able to surmount them with the help of a skill she acquired while growing up in Nigeria.
Even though, she is a celebrity in the UK today, it is remarkable to point out here that Irene’s story is that of a humble beginning. At a very tender age, while in Nigeria, Irene discovered her flair for hair dressing and because of her creativity in the art, she started making money plaiting other peoples’ hair at that age. When she relocated to the UK, her passion for hair dressing, braiding and sewing got her an offer at a local charity, a development that contributed largely to her survival in the UK at that stage.
Today, by dint of hard work and by the grace of God, she has a Diploma in Public Administration in 2005, a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Social Care in 2013 at Roehampton University and a Masters in Human Rights and International Relations and later got employed at the African Child Trust as their Director of Public Relations.
She is a brand ambassador for J. Elegance Foundation and AMAF (Ankara Meets Adire Festival) and the confirmed Ebony Queen 1 of UK. She is the international correspondent of the Black Tribe Television and has worked as for Calabash Magazine as their Public Relation Officer.
Irene also has many awards, such as Young Achiever of the Universal Peace Federation; Youth Ambassador of the African4U; Africa Business Women Awards for inspiring and empowering women; Kitenge Festival UK Awards for her outstanding contributions to the African community; African Achievers Awards for Africans in Bradford; BEFFTA Award for Best Beauty Pageant Organizer; etc.
As a celebrity, she has been featured in different TV and radio shows, newspapers, magazines, such as: Bridgette Tetteh Show on BBC Radio; Dr Pauline Long Show on BEN TV; Danny Erskine on Ahodwo FM; The African Show on Blast1386.com; DJ Deoba Show on Colourful Radio; Against All Odds Show on Oasis Universal Radio; Duchess International Magazine; SRTV Entertainment Magazine; Newham Recorder; Sun Newspaper; Soutwark News; The Click Show on Great TV; Afrokanist Magazine; Mina Dolls Show on BEN TV; Christy Amalu Show on London Hot Radio; 9Ja Voices with Olayemi Koiki on Starr Radio; Benedette Business Surgery on Noble People TV; Master Mo Show on Power Xtra Radio; Rose On All Sides Show on BEN TV; Breakfast Show on BBC Leeds; Naija Groove; 106.5 Radio Leinerhertz, Hannover Germany; The show of the People by Monica Ambrose.
As a way of giving back to the society, Irene is a member of various social groups, including the World of Women; Universal Peace Federation and Central Association of Nigeria in United Kingdom; Royal Daughters; Women2Women Mentoring; Grace Givers; and Women Resource Centre.
Ladies and gentlemen, the story of Irene is one that will inspire African youths, within and in Diaspora, especially the female ones and we hope you will join us on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 by 12 noon WAT to hear more as she speaks on the theme: Your Skill: A Potential Life Saver.
