20 Ugwumba startups to participate in the Origins Pre-seed Program

To create an enabling environment that will support the growth of startups founded by Blacks in the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa, the State of Indiana has launched the Elevate Ventures/InnoPower Origins Initiative

Entrepreneurs and startups in Nigeria are increasingly turning to venture capital as a source of funding for their business ideas. One of the key trends in the Venture Capital market in Nigeria is the increasing focus on technology startups. Nigeria has seen a surge in tech-enabled businesses, particularly in sectors such as e-commerce, fintech, and HealthTech.

This project is aimed at discovering and developing early-stage startups by teaching them the skills and strategies they need to build big businesses with limited capital.

Skilled entrepreneurs are the foundation of the free market; therefore, the Origins Initiative shall unleash the untapped potentials of early-stage entrepreneurs in Nigeria.

Therefore, with the support of our partners at InnoPower Indy, USA led by Emil Ekiyor, 20 startups from the Ugwumba Startups Community have been selected to benefit from the Origins Project.

According to Landon Young, the Head of Pre-Seed Investing, Elevate Ventures, “we are thrilled to partner with InnoPower and to be working with entrepreneurs from one of the fastest-growing countries in the fastest-growing continent. We have big expectations for the innovations and business models that will be created from this partnership.”

Titi Obasanya, the Head of ElevateME (Elevate Minority Entrepreneur), and an entrepreneur-in-residence said, “the partnership with InnoPower is timely and relevant, and we are excited about the innovations that would come out of Africa, starting with Nigeria.”

Speaking on the new project, our President, His Excellency, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu said: “we are very grateful to Emil Ekiyor and his team at InnoPower for their continued support to our strategic objective of reducing unemployment in Nigeria through entrepreneurship development. With the Origins Initiative sponsored by the State of Indiana, we are sure that in no distant time, these youths shall begin to contribute to the economic development of our country, Nigeria.”
