Tomorrow, Thursday, August 26, 2021, history shall be made as the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa formalizes its working relationship with the Abuja Enterprise Agency.
As you may know, the Abuja Enterprise Agency is the FCT vehicle for Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) development and poverty reduction. It was established by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).The Agency focuses on the development of MSMEs by assisting new and existing entrepreneurs overcome obstacles to growth through access to finance, proper business planning and developing entrepreneurship skill.
Since inception in 2018, the Ugwumba Leadership Center has supported the birth of over 5,000 SMEs and startups across the country with its annual Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge events and other job creation programs targeted at young and women entrepreneurs.
Therefore, as an impact investment and leadership center with a mandate to raise a new generation of leaders and entrepreneurs for Africa, this new partnership with the Abuja Enterprise Agency will enable the Ugwumba Leadership Center reach out and empower millions of Nigerian youths and women, who have ideas that can be transformed into profitable business ventures across the country.
A peep into the partnership documents revealed that both organizations shall implement the following action plans in the FCT and in any state of the Federation as shall be agreed upon:
a) Entrepreneurship Training for youths and women;
b) Capacity Building of youth and women cooperatives;
c) Skills Training for youths and women;
d) Business Advisory Services for young and women entrepreneurs; and
e) Facilitate Access to Finance Opportunities for young and women entrepreneurs.
The MOU signing ceremony holds tomorrow, August 26, 2021 at the Headquarters of the Ugwumba Leadership Center in Abuja.
