The Ugwumba Leadership Centre successfully concluded the 2025 edition of the Ugwumba SkillUp Empowerment Program, a flagship initiative designed to equip young entrepreneurs with practical skills and provide seed funding to help them start, grow, and scale their businesses.
This year’s empowerment exercise recorded remarkable participation from across the country, culminating in the certification and empowerment of outstanding beneficiaries who completed the training program.
Empowerment Disbursement
Beneficiaries residing in Abuja, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and Niger States received their empowerment cheques physically (due to proximity advantage) during the closing ceremony. For participants from other states across Nigeria, funds will be disbursed via bank transfers starting next week to ensure seamless and inclusive access to the empowerment package.
Media Coverage
The event received wide publicity as several television and radio stations like ARISE News, AIT News and KapitalFM 92.9 Abuja were on ground to cover the proceedings, capturing the success stories, testimonials, and highlights of the empowerment exercise. This coverage has further amplified the Centre’s commitment to youth empowerment and entrepreneurship development nationwide.
Certificate Presentation
All qualified participants were awarded Certificates of Completion, marking their successful participation in the SkillUp Program and recognizing their dedication throughout the training period. H.E. Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, before presenting the certificates and cheques to the finalists, advised them to use the money to start up and grow the skills they have acquired through the Centre, as their future lies in their own hands now.
Conclusion
The Director of Programs, Rtn. Bibby Kala-Kala, gave an overview of the event and reminded finalists that more than one stream of income is the new basic need. She charged them to put the skills acquired and the financial support given into good use so they can, in turn, employ and train other people, as growth is a chain.
The 2025 Ugwumba SkillUp Empowerment Program has once again demonstrated the Centre’s commitment to building a new generation of entrepreneurs who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and financial support to create jobs and transform their communities. The Leadership Centre remains committed to supporting beneficiaries as they begin their business journeys.
