UCLDA congratulates the new ECOWAS Chairman

The President of the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu this afternoon congratulated President Nana Akufo-Addo for his election as the new ECOWAS Chairman.

According to Ugwuma Uche Nwosu, President Nana Akufo-Addo is a great leader with sound administrative skills and by the grace of God will bring on board his several years experiences in the public service to rejig the economy of the ECOWAS sub-region.

His election as the ECOWAS Chairman took place today at the ongoing 57th ECOWAS Summit, which is being held in Niamey, the capital of Niger. At the summit, which was held at the Mahatma Gandhi International Conference Centre, leaders of the ECOWAS sub-region led by President Muhammadu Buhari considered reports form the 44th Ordinary Session of the Mediation and Security Council at the Ministerial Level and the 84th Ordinary Session of the Ecowas Council of Ministers, which preceded the Summit, among others.

The new ECOWAS Chairman was born on the 29th of March 1944 and is currently the President of Ghana. He was sworn in as President on January 07, 2017. He previously served as Attorney General from 2001 to 2003 and as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2003 to 2007 under the Kufuor-led administration.
