The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investments has been described by the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa as the most proactive in responding to the needs and aspirations of the Nigerian people.
The Executive Director of the Center, Remy Chukwunyere declared this yesterday when the Hon. Minister for Industry, Trade and Investments in Abuja, His Excellency Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo requested to parley with the top 20 participants at the 2020 Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge.
According to Mr. Remy Chukwunyere, “the Ministry responds to and gives priority to mails received from the public. Last year when we first brought our idea pitching and grant competition for youths, called the Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge to Abuja, we sent out partnership letters to several MDAs connected with the job creation and economic development policies of the Government. Unfortunately, we did not get responses from any other, except the Ministry of Trade and Investments, which invited our team for a meeting. After the meeting, the Department assigned to work with us introduced us to all the agencies under their supervision, including SMEDAN, CAC, NIPC, NEPC, SON, etc in writing. The support we got was massive, even when we did not know anyone there before…”
This year again, several efforts were made to engage other Ministries that are relevant in the ecosystem but only the Ministry of Trade and Investments responded with the Hon. Minister in attendance at the grand finale, to encourage Nigerian youths, who are creating jobs for themselves and solving the problems of the society with their talents and skills.
We appreciate the leadership style of His Excellency, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo for setting the pace as we hope that others will follow suit.
The Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa is committed in raising a new generation of young leaders and entrepreneurs for Africa!
