Elder Peter Godsday Orubebe, the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs has commended the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa for joining the advocacy for good governance through leadership development in Nigeria.
He applauded our President, His Excellency, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu for his foresight in establishing the Center, with a focus on leadership and enterprise development in Nigeria.
Chief Orubebe, who was one of the closest allies to former Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan said this while speaking at a special dinner organized by the Ugwumba Leadership Center in honour of Prof. Philip Afaha on his appointment as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) at the University of Abuja.
He described Nigeria as a blessed country which unfortunately is bedeviled with the challenge of leadership. However, according to him, “with the emergence of organizations, such as the Ugwumba Leadership Center and the University of Abuja Leadership Centre, which is the TETFUND Center of Excellence in Public Governance and Leadership, there is hope for us in Nigeria.”
He called for the sustenance of the ongoing partnership between the two Centers to ensure that more young people are equipped with the basic leadership skills they need to become better citizens and leaders in future.
We appreciate Chief Peter Orubebe and other dignitaries that graced the occasion.
