The Ambassador of Poland to Nigeria, Her Excellency, Joanna Magdalena Tarnawska has commended the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa for the giant strides it is making in raising new leaders and creating jobs for youths in Africa.

She said this today in Abuja when the President of the Center, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu led a delegation on a courtesy visit to her office. The Ambassador described the leadership and enterprise development programs of the center as “timely” since they are aimed at changing the narratives about youth development in Nigeria and in Africa as a whole.

Addressing the Ambassador, our President, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu narrated the story behind the establishment of the center and how it is important for young people in black nations around the world to submit themselves to the mentorship of successful people who are contributing to both national and global development with their knowledge, expertise and innovations.

Earlier in his introduction speech, our Executive Director, Mr. Remy Chukwunyere gave an overview about the Center’s programs and its overall mandate, which is to raise a new generation of leaders and entrepreneurs for Africa. He informed that leadership and entrepreneurship development are the focal areas of the programs of the center since they are very important skills required for the development of any nation.

Contributing, Mr. Uzoh Ifeanyi, the Coordinator of the UN Habitat Youth Program for Nigeria said Ugwumba Uche Nwosu was considered for appointment as the UN Habitat Special Youth Envoy based on his philanthropic gestures, which are evident in the various achievements of the Ugwumba Leadership Center.

The visit is in line with the preparations being made by our President and his delegates to the UN Habitat World Urban Forum in Poland, next month.

Future collaboration opportunities were also discussed with the embassy, and shall be announced, subsequently.

Other members of the delegation included: Mrs. Agwu-Nnachi Ugo of the UN Habitat Nigeria Youth Program and other staff of the center: Josephat Okafor; Rebecca Amos and Mathew Ogu.
