Since Independence in 1960, Nigerians have continued to agitate and yearn for a better society.
From the civil war that broke out few years after independence to several failed democratic experiments, the many years of military rule and the return of democracy in 1999 with systemic corruption in every sector of the economy and to the current insecurity that is ravaging the nooks and crannies of the country, this seems not to be the “Nigeria We Wanted…”
The devastation in infrastructure, the unabated security challenges which are evident in the rate of kidnapping and killing of innocent people across the country are issues of concern to us at the Ugwumba Leadership Center and our partners at the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation.
Therefore, in line with our joint vision of a Nigerian society whose democracy and economy are led by young people and women, who are building peaceful democratic systems and successful business empires, we hereby announce the launch of our conversations on Agenda 2023: The Nigeria We Want.
Through these soul-searching conversations that would be broadcast live on our social media handles, we shall be setting the agenda for all those who are running for various elective positions in the country in the forthcoming 2023 general elections, especially, the Office of the President.
The time for us to institute an issue-based politics has come. Nigerians should rise up and SAY NO to money politics. We should elect our leaders based on their antecedents and abilities to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
That is the only way to improve on our security architecture, develop our economy, save our failing education system and health infrastructures as well as create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths and women.
Among many Nigerians, there is a strong argument that Nigeria would have fared better if it was still in the hands of its Colonial Masters till date. No matter how true this may sound, we strongly believe that Nigeria as a country has men and women who have the capacity to run its affairs for the good of all.
Good governance is the only foundation that must be laid for Nigeria to rise again and take its enviable position as the Giant of Africa!
We are therefore calling on Nigerians, home and in Diaspora who would like to join this LIVE conversation as speakers and panelists to send their names, brief bio and contact details via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact Remy Chukwunyere on 08038702075 or Dr. Haruna Muhammed Jumare on 08037010212 via Whatsapp ONLY.
Nigeria Must Be Great Again!
