Ladies and gentlemen, once again, we wish to unveil Meeru Dhalwala as another powerful keynote speaker joining us at the 2nd Ugwumba Women Conference scheduled for Tuesday, May 18, 2021.
Meeru was born in India and moved to Washington DC, USA at a very young age with her parents. In Washington DC, she worked with various international organizations on human rights and economic development.
In February, 1995, she moved to Vancouver, Canada where she manages ones of the best Indian restaurants in Canada called Vij’s Restaurant with her business partner Vikram Vij.
Meeru was on the Board of Vancouver Farmers Markets for 6 years and was a national judge for COYF (Canadian Outstanding Young Farmer) in 2017 and 2018.
She sits on the Advisory Board, Land and Food Systems Faculty at the University of British Columbia; the Board of IC-IMPACTS at University of British Columbia and the Board of MOSAIC, an organization that assists new immigrants and refugees to adjust and learn necessary skills for their new lives in British Columbia.
Meeru has written three award winning cook books and has served as a judge on Food TV’s Wall of Chefs. She enjoys making presentations and coaching on all issues related to food, cooking, women in business, and how to lead ethical businesses in terms of your personhood, your staff and your carbon footprint.
She holds Honorary Doctorates from the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University.
