#UEC2020: Bilkisu, Valentine, Ruth and others emerge winners

Top 5 Star prize winners have emerged at the highly contested 2020 Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge in Abuja. At the end of the live pitching competition by the 20 finalists who were invited to the grand finale of the challenge that started in October, 2020, the following young entrepreneurs and innovators in Nigeria emerged winners:

1) Bilkisu Garba, Founder and CEO of The Upcycle Architect, an Interior design company that specializes in producing eco-friendly products and spaces from waste and scrap materials;

2) Nnamani Valentine, Founder and CEO of Next Origin Technologies, an energy startup committed to end energy poverty and improve quality of life;

3) Ruth Ede, CEO of Scratop, an Agritech and Waste Recycling startup that uses bio-waste to produce 100% organic, eco-friendly, and sustainable fertilizer through our proprietary formula;

4) Fwangkat Daburak, CEO of Yen Express, a Health Technology Startup that provides quick, affordable and reliable medical access to patients and more opportunities for pharmacies, laboratories, private hospitals and doctors to increase their revenue; and

5)Adeleye Olufemi, CEO of Prodigy School Solutions, an EduTech startup that provides online management software for schools as well as empowers teachers through technology.

Selecting these top 5 star prize winners from the total of 400 young entrepreneurs from across the country with amazing business ideas was not easy.

As the star prize winner, Bilkisu Garba went home with a startup grant of one million (N1m), followed by Valentine Nnamani, who went home with Seven hundred thousand naira (N700K).

The third place winner, Ruth Ede went home with a seed grant of five hundred thousand naira (N500k), fourth place winner, Fwangkat Daburak went home with a grant of three hundred thousand naira (N300K) while the fifth place winner, Adeleye Olufemi went home with our grant prize of two hundred thousand naira (N200K).

There were also consolation prizes of one hundred thousand naira (N100K) each for the 6th to the 10th place winners while the 11th to the 20th place winners went home with consolation prizes of fifty thousand naira (N50K) each.
